The artist says: “I had the opportunity to spend a year at the Heritage Library Hendrick Conscience to work in the Conservation & Management Department .
There I did minor repairs of books , fetching and returning books .
After being asked by AJW to participate , my work will be my inspiration from that beautiful room “ The Nottebohm Room “ as I’m a Conceptual Jewelry Designer .”

SOLO EXHIBITION ULLA VAN WETSWINKEL (Dutch)
“De reeks ‘Lost & Found’ komt voort uit mijn toevallige ontmoetingen met mensen die op straat proberen te overleven. Hier, in Antwerpen of in Brussel, brengt de confrontatie tussen arm en rijk gevoelens van vervreemding, kwetsbaarheid, schaamte, machteloosheid en onverschilligheid met zich mee.
Een herfstochtend tijdens mijn hardlooptour in het stadspark. Op de grond liggen bladeren, schillen van kastanjes en takken. Ik loop langs de banken en zie een slapende, jonge man. Dakloos. Hij is bedekt met dekens, plastic zakken met zijn spullen en karton om op te zitten. Zijn eenzaamheid valt op,. Hij is achtergebleven op de bank in het park net zoals als de restanten van een feest op en rond de bank ernaast van de dag ervoor… en wij lopen er gewoon voorbij.
Wat verderop tijdens mijn hardlooptour liggen er op de grond en op de bank restanten van ons dagelijks leven: een trui, plastic, papieren en blikjes bier en frisdrank. We gooien het weg of raken het kwijt. Het kan ons niet schelen. En ik loop er gewoon langs met mijn favoriete hardloopmuziek in mijn oren. Sleeper in metropolis (A. Clark).
Het beeld herhaalt zich. Op de fietstocht na een dinertje met vrienden, na een ochtend op het Vossenplein, wanneer ik mijn trein wil halen. Mensen die erg hun best doen om niet gezien te worden. Mensen met hun gezicht verborgen achter hun handen, beschaamd over hun situatie, voor ons. En wij? We zijn beschaamd over het passeren.”

Jewellery making is not always about diamonds and gold.
The creation of jewellery can also be a way of expressing emotions and thoughts.
A personal view on the world.
In this exhibition 4 women show you the result of their personal journey.
Starting from a concept, technique, alloy or unexpected material, the outcome is a diverse range of jewellery going from wearable pieces to artistic objects.
Through this exhibition they invite you into their creative process and show you
the results.

Elke Peeters: Is Alumnea of Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Her commitment to provide services and quality to her customers is still her focus to create new jewellery. Starting with precious gemstones and pearls give Elke the inspiration to make jewellery. All jewellery are handmade and signed.

Nayestones: All Nayestones jewellery are locally designed first in the independent designer’s studio near Brussels and then created in the designer’s workshop in Antwerp,by high quality goldsmiths and stone-setters.

More about silversmith Patrick Storme: “Silver as water always fascinated me. Silver is the most white of all metals and shows because of its high reflectance the environment in all its details. A combination of textures and gloss gives silver a unique apparence, often blurring the edge between its volume and what it surrounds.”
During these days the artist will be present most of the time to give some information on my work.

More about silversmith Patrick Storme: “Silver as water always fascinated me. Silver is the most white of all metals and shows because of its high reflectance the environment in all its details. A combination of textures and gloss gives silver a unique apparence, often blurring the edge between its volume and what it surrounds.”
During these days the artist will be present most of the time to give some information on my work.

Antwerp Jewellery Week organises MEET and TALK at Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.

Antwerp Jewellery Week would like to thank Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, to give the opportunity to organise this Meet and Talk at its location. The Talk will be held in English and is free of entrance.
Art work from Steinbeisser, Han Ning Chiang and Fien Verbeke will be on display during the event.
This MEET and TALK will be held at Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, at 2pm, Mutsaardstraat 31, at “Wintertuin” (doors open at 1pm and is free of entrance).

The artist says: “I had the opportunity to spend a year at the Heritage Library Hendrick Conscience to work in the Conservation & Management Department .
There I did minor repairs of books , fetching and returning books .
After being asked by AJW to participate , my work will be my inspiration from that beautiful room “ The Nottebohm Room “ as I’m a Conceptual Jewelry Designer .”

SOLO EXHIBITION ULLA VAN WETSWINKEL (Dutch)
“De reeks ‘Lost & Found’ komt voort uit mijn toevallige ontmoetingen met mensen die op straat proberen te overleven. Hier, in Antwerpen of in Brussel, brengt de confrontatie tussen arm en rijk gevoelens van vervreemding, kwetsbaarheid, schaamte, machteloosheid en onverschilligheid met zich mee.
Een herfstochtend tijdens mijn hardlooptour in het stadspark. Op de grond liggen bladeren, schillen van kastanjes en takken. Ik loop langs de banken en zie een slapende, jonge man. Dakloos. Hij is bedekt met dekens, plastic zakken met zijn spullen en karton om op te zitten. Zijn eenzaamheid valt op,. Hij is achtergebleven op de bank in het park net zoals als de restanten van een feest op en rond de bank ernaast van de dag ervoor… en wij lopen er gewoon voorbij.
Wat verderop tijdens mijn hardlooptour liggen er op de grond en op de bank restanten van ons dagelijks leven: een trui, plastic, papieren en blikjes bier en frisdrank. We gooien het weg of raken het kwijt. Het kan ons niet schelen. En ik loop er gewoon langs met mijn favoriete hardloopmuziek in mijn oren. Sleeper in metropolis (A. Clark).
Het beeld herhaalt zich. Op de fietstocht na een dinertje met vrienden, na een ochtend op het Vossenplein, wanneer ik mijn trein wil halen. Mensen die erg hun best doen om niet gezien te worden. Mensen met hun gezicht verborgen achter hun handen, beschaamd over hun situatie, voor ons. En wij? We zijn beschaamd over het passeren.”
